I am attaching two photos of the one pincushion I saved for myself.  I belong to an online lace group called Arachne and so the spider is our mascot.  Although you cannot see it, the reverse of the pincushions have spider fabric and the top has an embroidered spiders web.  In the background you can see a pile of some of my bobbins on the piece I started at lace convention.  The bobbins hold the thread, and so far I have about 170 bobbins on this pillow and need to add more.  This is to make a motif that is about 4 inches in diameter.  The thread is Egyptian cotton 120/2 which is fairly fine so care has to be taken not to tug the threads as they might break.  This piece will probably take a long time to complete but hopefully it will be done before the next convention next year.
